Short Story Reading Group [Central Square]
Every month we will read and discuss a short story as a group. For December we will be reading "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. Copies of the story are available for pick up at the Central Square Branch. Registration is helpful but not required!
City of Cambridge Appoints Small Business Advisory Committee to Plan Safe Reopening Strategy
The City of Cambridge announced the appointment of 8 members to a new City Manager’s Small Business Advisory Committee. Representing business associations from across the City, the Advisory Committee will provide expert advice and help draft best practices that the City can incorporate into its “Small Business Back to Business” plan.
Curbside Food Waste Pickup
In 2009, the City set a goal to reduce residential trash disposal by 30% by 2020, and by 80% by 2050. With that goal in mind, the City expanded curbside food waste pickup to all buildings with 1 to 12 units. 25,000 households (8,100 buildings) are now eligible to participate.
Cambridge Works
Cambridge Works, the City's transitional jobs program, serves Cambridge residents between the ages of 18-35 who have difficulty finding full-time jobs due to limited work experience, a gap in their work history, legal challenges, or personal issues. Cambridge Works is offered twice a year, in the spring and fall.

Second Week of Community-Led Commuter Bike Rides During Red Line Closure
The MBTA will close sections of the Red Line in Cambridge between Friday, July 12 (starting 8:15 p.m.) and Sunday, July 28, 2024. FREE shuttle buses will replace regular Red Line trains. A community-led commuter bike ride will be held during the first week of the Red Line closures.
Baker-Polito Administration Announces Preregistration System for Mass Vaccination Locations to Launch Friday, Updates on Dose Distribution in the Commonwealth & Designated Vaccine Clinic Days for K-12 Educators, Staff & Child Care Workers
The Baker-Polito Administration announced a new preregistration signup tool will be available for the state’s 7 mass vaccination sites starting Friday, March 12. The new system will make it easier to request and book an appointment at a mass vaccination site at a nearby location when they are available.
Health Department Recommends COVID-19 Booster Shots
The Cambridge Public Health Department strongly recommends a COVID-19 booster shot for all individuals who are eligible. You should get the booster if you are 18 or older and were fully vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna at least 6 months ago or Johnson & Johnson at least 2 months ago.

The Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP) will provide free preschool to Cambridge 4-year-olds and some 3-year-olds beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. CPP offers families a streamlined, single application process where they can apply to a variety of high-quality, Cambridge-based preschool programs.

The City of Cambridge will once again host Danehy Park Family Day on Saturday, September 21, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Danehy Park is a 55-acre facility located at 99 Sherman Street in North Cambridge (adjacent to Garden and New Streets). The event rain date is September 28, 2024.
