The City of Cambridge launched the 10th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting and collected over 1,100 ideas from the community between September 11 – October 9, 2023, about how to spend $2 million on projects to improve Cambridge.

We're thrilled to welcome author and historian Gregory E. O'Malley who will be discussing his book, "The Escapes of David George: An Odyssey of Slavery, Freedom, and the American Revolution" which reveals a remarkable, untold experience of the American revolutionary period—a Black man’s quest for the freedom espoused by our Founders, but denied him and other enslaved people. We are seeking Cambridge families with children ages 4–10 years to pilot Math! Everywhere!, an exciting math app that encourages your child to explore fun, interactive math tasks — right in your neighborhood. The app, created by local organization MathTalk, supports the goals of the Early Childhood Math Group facilitated by the Cambridge STEAM Initiative.

The annual event is a fun, alternative way to share information about Cambridge water and past participants have greatly enjoyed the experience.

Back by popular demand! Join musicians of the Boston Festival Orchestra for "Festive Fanfare," a fun, family-friendly celebration of the season's joy and warmth at the Cambridge Public Library! Featuring violinist Jae Cosmos Lee and cellist Aron Zelkowicz, this festive concert will fill the air with beloved holiday classics, heartwarming melodies, and jubilant fanfares. Perfect for audiences of all ages, this free event celebrates holiday cheer and musical splendor! Light refreshments and treats will be provided. Registration is not required but preferred. This concert is cosponsored by the Friends of the Cambridge Public Library.

The City will be partnering with the Office of Tourism and CambridgeSide to host a free watch party for the World Cup final around CambridgeSide on Sunday, July 19. Festivities will begin at 2 p.m. and kickoff starts at 3 p.m.

Join us for a conversation about community, resilience, and activism in the Latinx community with Gladys Vega, the Executive Director of La Collaborativa in Chelsea. Gladys Vega is a groundbreaking community organizer and advocate, working relentlessly and fearlessly to ensure the Latinx immigrant community has a voice in determining how it’s needs and concerns are addressed. She believes that empowerment of the individual leads to empowerment of the community and that social action is the vehicle an empowered community can use to achieve its goals. Gladys is the architect of nearly all of La Colaborativa’s programs, initiatives, and community organizing campaigns. Her leadership has resulted in expanded rights for immigrants, low-income families, tenants, workers, youths, and people of color across Massachusetts.
