This month's title is The Wangs Versus the World by Jade Chang A book discussion group for adults at the O'Neill Branch Library, reading a mixture of fiction and nonfiction. Past titles include Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer and Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell. Print copies are available for pickup at the O'Neill Branch Library. Treat yourself to an afternoon of fun, creativity, and community while a local artist guides us step-by-step through the process of painting a beautiful art piece, suitable for hanging on your door or wall. Tea and light refreshments provided. No experience necessary. All are welcome. Old clothing recommended, as acrylic paint can stain. Seating is limited to 8. Registration is required and will open November 24.

The Baker-Polito Administration issued an order requiring the use of masks or face coverings in public places (beginning May 6th) where they cannot socially distance from others. The Administration also announced expanded community health center COVID-19 testing capacity at centers throughout the Commonwealth.

The City of Cambridge is canceling all City-sponsored Halloween events and will not be issuing street closure, block party, or park permits this year for community events in order to help prevent large groups from congregating in close proximity.

The Baker-Polito Administration announced that Massachusetts will advance to Step 1 of Phase IV of the Commonwealth’s reopening plan on Monday, March 22. The Administration also replaced the Massachusetts Travel Order originally issued in July 2020 with a Travel Advisory, effective March 22.

Cambridge has joined a growing global movement of cities supporting sustainable, plant-based food systems in order to combat climate change and promote public health. The City Council unanimously endorsed the global Plant Based Treaty, following Los Angeles and 64 other cities around the world.

Due to COVID-19, farmers markets will be different this year - with masks, new layouts, and social distancing protocols. Markets are required to adhere to the Massachusetts Commissioner of Public Health’s Order outlining mandatory measures to reduce the exposure of shoppers and market employees to COVID-19.

This community’s racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity shapes Cambridge and is what makes it a desirable and enriching place to live, work, and raise a family. In order to best serve the Cambridge community, the City must take an inclusive and equitable approach to address residents' needs.

Due to high demand at the November 10 vaccination clinic, and in order to ensure those who received their first dose can receive their second dose on December 1, walk-in COVID-19 vaccine and flu shots will not be available at the December 1 clinic.
