The City of Cambridge will be redesigning Beech St near the intersection of Elm St to improve pedestrian safety.

The Cambridge Police Department is investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred on June 11, 2024. The victim told officers on scene that at approximately 12:20 a.m., on the 200 block of Franklin Street, the victim was conversing with three individuals, and does not recall what happened next. The victim reported waking up in a parking lot in Central Square and having been assaulted.

The Affordable Housing Trust will hold its monthly meeting in-person and via Zoom webinar. Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow is proud to announce that the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) has successfully obtained the Advanced Level Accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®). CALEA was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of law enforcement’s major executive associations. A CALEA Accreditation is widely considered in the law enforcement world to be “the gold standard” accreditation, an honor reserved for only top tier police departments. For context, there are approximately 18,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States, and just 1,021 currently hold a CALEA Accreditation of any level.

Cambridge Police Detective Lester Sullivan, Detective Matthew Grassi, Lieutenant Thomas Ahern (Ret.), and Forensic Identification Specialist Brooke Miller received the Outstanding Collaboration Award at the 2024 Law Enforcement Award Ceremony in Boston. Each year, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts hosts a ceremony to recognize outstanding public service by the agents, officers, and community leaders with whom they work alongside.
