Join us to celebrate Jasmine Warga's A Rover's Story, which tells the story of a rover's journey to Mars and the challenges it faces there. We will celebrate by building some artful mechanisms with Playful Engineers! Use simple machines to create mechanical automata and solve problems similar to those faced by rovers on Mars - using materials you could find around your own home. Registration is required. This event is part of a special series promoting our 2026 Curious George Lecture (CGL) with Jasmine Warga, award-winning author of A Rover's Story, Other Words for Home, and many other popular children's books. Save the Date: the Lecture will take place on Wednesday, April 15, 6 p.m. at the Main Library. Funding is generously provided by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation.

Effective February 1, 2026, the City of Cambridge is increasing the fines associated with expired meter and overtime parking tickets.

Join us for a simple discussion on the life cycle of a plant, then make some seed art to take home! Recommended for children ages 5 and up and their caregivers. This program can accommodate 50 people. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. The entire party must be present to receive a ticket. This program starts promptly. Unclaimed seats will be offered to someone waiting. We appreciate your patience and understanding. These Precious Days, by Ann Patchett Patchett reflects on home, family, friendships and writing in this deeply personal collection of essays.

The event will feature three accomplished Boston-area poets reading from a selection of some of James Merrill’s best poetry, including passages from the celebrated epic trilogy The Changing Light at Sandover as well as some of his widely appreciated narrative poems including “The Broken Home,” “The Mad Scene,” “Voices from the Other World,” “The Victor Dog,” “Lost in Translation,” and “After the Fire.”

The Cambirdge Home Energy Assistance (HEAP Program helps income-eligible Cambridge and Somerville residents pay their winter heating bills. HEAP accepts applications through April 30.

Calling all plant lovers! Add some green into your home! Bring your own plants to share propagules with others or come to pot a new plant baby for your home collection. We'll have a small collection of house plant propagules, along with soil and plastic planting containers. Attendees are welcome to bring their own pots as well.
