Leprechaun Orienteering Event at Fresh Pond Reservation
Join Navigation Games for Leprechaun Orienteering, a free and fun outdoor event for all ages at Kingsley Park in Fresh Pond Reservation. Teams of 2–4 people will travel through the park and use a special map to look for checkpoints — before tricky leprechauns move them! The event is sponsored by the City of Cambridge.
CPL Nature Club: Morning Bird Watching Walk at Mount Auburn Cemetery (Collins)
Join us for a morning walk at one of the most renowned birdwatching spots in Cambridge, Mount Auburn Cemetery! We will help you identify birds, learn birdwatching tips and tricks, and familiarize yourself with migratory birds as well as those that can be spotted all year round. A limited supply of binoculars will be available.
UPDATE: With the May 28th reopening of the Collins Branch Library, this walk will now meet in the courtyard of the Collins Branch at 64 Aberdeen Ave. Welcome back!
Registration is required. This event can only accommodate a certain number of participants. One registration is good for one person. If you do not register, you cannot participate. Those on the waitlist will be contacted if a space becomes available.
An Introduction to "Forest Bathing" for Elders (Central)
Curious about “forest bathing” (spoiler alert: no water required) and how to experience it indoors?
Then join us for a calming and restorative indoor introduction to the practice of Forest Bathing, specially designed for people 55 and over.
Come once or join every workshop in this 6-part series to explore the concept of "Shinrin-yoku" (“forest bathing”) which is the practice of being mindful and contemplative within nature, using all your senses.
Stefanie Haug, LICSW (she/her) guides people on journeys of self-awareness and relationship with nature as a local psychotherapist, certified Mindful Outdoor Guide (Kripalu), and coach. Her career has spanned the nonprofit and corporate world with a focus on the wellbeing of humans and the more-than-human world.
Summer Reading: Take and Make Tiny Art (Collins)
Stop by before the holiday weekend to pick up a tiny art kit. Paint your own miniature masterpiece with a watercolor set, wooden easel and two-inch canvas. If you're playing Summer Bingo, use this kit to complete the square: create something inspired by a book.
