The City of Cambridge Department of Veterans Services will host a Veterans Day Observance event on Tuesday, November 11, from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m., at the Cambridge Common, located at 1500 Massachusetts avenue., by the Civil War monument, which is bordered by Massachusetts Avenue, Garden Street, and Waterhouse Street, near Harvard Square.

On Sunday, June 25, 2026 several off-duty officers took part in the 2026 BFit Challenge at TD Garden. BFit is an annual event hosted by the Boston Bruins Foundation with a goal of promoting community wellness while raising funds for various charities, many of which support first responders, military veterans, and their families.

As part of the Five-Year Street and Sidewalk Reconstruction Plan, Huron Ave, from Fresh Pond Place to Fresh Pond Parkway, is scheduled for reconstruction. This project will include paving, sidewalk improvements and utility installations. Cushing Plaza, located at Cushing Street and Huron Avenue, is scheduled for reconstruction to allow stormwater to infiltrate and provide enhanced biochar and compost soil for the new trees and garden plantings.

The Cambridge Hip-Hop Collective will bring together the Hip-Hop, RnB and Electronic Dance Music communities in this collaborative event at the Urban Park (UP) roof garden in Kendall. In addition to live sets from some frequent Cambridge venue performers like Sun.Sets.Boston, The Modular Troupe will be bringing a live 5-piece band playing smooth RnB and Hip-Hop classics with featured performances from local singers and rappers.

Join us for a lively discussion of a great book in person at the Main Library! Snacks will be provided. For ages 7-9 and a parent or caregiver. This month's book is The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Mary Lennox is a sickly and spoiled 10-year-old girl sent to live with her reclusive uncle after the death of her parents. When she arrives at his rural estate she meets a cast of characters including a friendly housekeeper and a mysterious cousin who she hears crying at night. When Mary discovers a hidden garden that has been growing wild for years, she decides to restore it in secret. Choose either the original or one of our graphic novel adaptations and come ready to compare and contrast! Copies of this month's book are available at the Children's Desk.
