Learn to fix your broken household items, such as electronics, appliances, clothing, and toys etc. at the Fixit Clinic. Volunteer Fixit coaches will review, take apart, and assist in repair attempts. Gain the confidence and knowledge to make repairs and teach others to do the same. This event takes place in The Hive, located on L1 of the Main Library. Open to all ages, registration is required. Did you know you can vote for a winner in the Massachusetts Children's Book Award each year? Join us the 1st Wednesday of each month as we read and discuss some of the MCBA nominated books. Cast your vote for your favorite nominated title, right here at the library. This program is for kids in 4th, 5th and 6th grade (or equivalent ages). Registration is required. Climate Action Book Club (Collins)
Join the Collins Branch Library in collaboration with the Cambridge Climate Leaders Initiative for a monthly discussion of a climate-related topic. Each month the group will discuss a book on the topic at hand then hear about a related local program or initiative and how you can take action. Topic: Community Resilience Documentary: This month we will be discussing the documentary, 2040 which is available on Kanopy and as a DVD. Second Week of Community-Led Commuter Bike Rides During Red Line Closure
The MBTA will close sections of the Red Line in Cambridge between Friday, July 12 (starting 8:15 p.m.) and Sunday, July 28, 2024. FREE shuttle buses will replace regular Red Line trains. A community-led commuter bike ride will be held during the first week of the Red Line closures.
