Reel Reads Book Club (O'Connell)
Is it true the book is always better? Join our new book club at the O'Connell Branch to delve into this question! Each month we will read a book selection with a movie adaptation, and discuss the relationship between the two and the merits and/or drawbacks of each. The Reel Reads book club will meet the first Tuesday evening of each month at the O'Connell Branch Library on 48 Sixth St. For our inaugural meeting in May, we will be discussing Forrest Gump by Winston Groom, and the 1994 film of the same name. How to get the print book and physical movie: Copies of the book and DVD are set aside at the O'Connell Branch. COVID-19 Vaccine Available at Select CVS Pharmacies, Including 215 Alewife Brook Parkway in Cambridge
CVS has more than 12,000 open appointments in Massachusetts for the next four days on its online scheduler. This vaccine is part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program and the vaccine is allocated by the Federal Government directly to the pharmacies.

The Foundry Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority, to help ensure that the Foundry building’s redevelopment and ongoing operation remains consistent with the Vision and Objectives established in the Demonstration Plan that grew out of an extensive community planning process. Help the City of Cambridge ensure that the Foundry located at 101 Rogers Street, remains a community space for arts, technology, and workforce development.
Baker-Polito Administration Announces $668 Million Small Business Relief Package
The Baker-Polito Administration launched a $668 million program to provide financial assistance to Massachusetts small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program in part relies on the pending federal COVID-19 relief bill recently passed by Congress. Regardless of the developments at the federal level, the Baker-Polito Administration will start releasing millions in new funding to restaurants, retailers, and other small businesses throughout the Commonwealth as soon as next week.

Two Important Updates Announced for Cambridge Recycling and Compost Program
Once your recycling is collected curbside in Cambridge, the City’s collection contractor drives the recycling to their recycling processor, Casella, located in Charlestown. In June 2023, Casella upgraded their processing facility with completely new equipment. The upgrades will accommodate trends in the recycling industry, and increase efficiency through the use of robotics, artificial intelligence. The Charlestown facility is among the largest in the US, processing up to 240,000 tons of recycling per year.
Corcoran Park
The Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) is preparing to begin a comprehensive modernization of their existing Corcoran Park development in Strawberry Hill. The redevelopment of Corcoran Park is expected to involve the demolition and replacement of the existing outdated buildings, built in the early 1950s, with new, deeply affordable rental units that will be built to Passive House standards. The CHA anticipates creating the revitalized Corcoran Park development under provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO).
