The City of Cambridge Water Department spends millions of dollars each year to ensure the safety of our drinking water. A vital link in this effort is the Water Department's Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention Programs.

Every fire company in the city is an EMS unit, staffed with Firefighter EMTs, Paramedics, and Medical 1st Responders answering more than 7,000 EMS calls per year, providing optimal medical care 24/7/365, under any conditions.

The Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA), with financial support from the City of Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust (AHT), has successfully purchased 31-37 Mellen Street from Lesley University. The site will be developed into affordable housing designed for families.

Cambridge GIS has an assortment of maps and atlases produced by City of Cambridge staff. In some cases where individual departments have their own map page, there is a link to redirect to the appropriate Web site.

Join the Cambridge Public Health Department, the Community Safety Department, and the Cambridge Public Library for a panel discussion that aims to raise awareness and community knowledge about how to access national, state, and local resources. Attendees will hear from representatives with the Samaritans, the Community Safety Department (CARE team), and the Community Behavioral Health Center. Light refreshments and childcare will be provided. Registration is required.

Join the Collins Branch Library in collaboration with the Cambridge Climate Leaders Initiative for a monthly discussion of a climate-related topic. Each month the group will discuss a book on the topic at hand then hear about a related local program or initiative and how you can take action. Topic: Worsening Wildfires Book: When It All Burns: Fighting Fire in a Transformed World by Jordan Thomas Registration is encouraged, but not required. The Domestic and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Initiative (DGBVPI) engages and mobilizes Cambridge’s communities, agencies, and City departments to change attitudes, behaviors, policies, and practices to prevent and bring attention to domestic and gender-based violence.

Lisa Peterson, Deputy City Manager, and Chair of the Community Preservation Act Committee (CPAC) opened the meeting. She explained that eligible projects must fall into one of three categories: historic preservation, open space, and affordable housing.
