Climate Change Preparedness Update
The Resilient Cambridge Plan, the citywide climate change preparedness and resilience plan, based on the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment, was issued in June 2021.
Cambridge Fire
The Cambridge Fire Department is to protect the lives and property of the people of Cambridge from fires, natural and man-made disasters, and hazardous materials incidents. The Department also provides emergency medical services and fire prevention services.
Environmental and Transportation Planning Division
The Environmental and Transportation Planning Division is responsible for improving the city's quality of life, by working to protect and improve the city's environment and natural resources and by planning improvements to the city's transportation system.
2018 Resident Survey Results
The results from this survey indicate that overall resident views of the City of Cambridge remain positive—although some key measures have reverted back to less positive 2014 levels. On perhaps the most all encompassing measure of resident sentiment, “extreme” satisfaction with overall experiences with the city
remains at the record high level for the 18-year history of this survey program.
Fostering Neighborhood Vitality & Open Spaces
The last two years have highlighted the importance of access to outdoor open space. In FY22, the City launched the Our Parks, Our Plan process to develop an action plan for the City’s open space network, applying an equity lens to criteria that include park access and climate resilience.
Franklin Street Park
The award winning Franklin Street Park is located on the block between Hancock and Bay Streets in the Riverside neighborhood. Park renovations were completed in 2003.
