The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will reconstruct sidewalks and begin resurfacing Route 28 in Cambridge (McGrath Highway and Monsignor O’Brien Highway). Work will include late-night/early morning detours for traffic heading north between Third Street and Broadway.

On approximately June 29th, 2018, the MBTA Commuter Rail (which is operated by Keolis Commuter Services) started sounding the train horns at the Sherman Street crossing in North Cambridge. We recognize that the noise from the horns is disturbing residents at all hours of the day, and are therefore moving as quickly as possible to install a solution that will allow the MBTA/Keolis to stop sounding the train horns. At the same time, we recognize the safety hazards created by grade crossings that do not meet the current standards for a Quiet Zone, and therefore want to ensure that we install the proper safety measures to resolve this situation.

Join Conservation Coordinator Alison Cariens for a closer look at pigments in the famed Forbes Pigment Collection at the Harvard Art Museums. This event will take place at the Harvard Art Museums. Registration is required but does not guarantee entry. By registering here, you are joining the pool of interested patrons. From this pool, eight names will be drawn randomly. Create 3-5 shaded seating areas in busy areas most in need of shade and seating. Each area will be 300 to 500 square feet and include shade canopies and inviting places to sit: bench swings, chairs, tables, and communal seating.

Science Club for Girls (SCFG) and the Cambridge STEAM Initiative are excited to share data from the Longitudinal Study of SCFG alums. The study collected feedback from 70 alums who participated in the SCFG's programming — which serves girls and gender-expansive youth in Kindergarten through 12th grade — to evaluate how alums’ experiences influenced their career paths, motivation to pursue STEM fields, and leadership development.

Update the Central Square library and expand the variety of items for loan. Proposed enhancements are new furniture, a laptop kiosk, and fun, non-traditional items for loan. These improvements would benefit the neighborhood and community.

Annual Alcohol License fall into two categories, Retail On-Premise for restaurants, hotels & clubs and Retail Off-Premise for package stores and markets. Both are issued by the License Commission in conjunction with the State's Alcohol Beverage Control Commission (ABCC). Retail On-Premise is governed by both Massachusetts General Law ch. 138, sec. 12 and Cambridge Regulations. The COVID-19 Vaccine Scheduling Resource Line is a dedicated telephone line available to residents 75 and older. The call center will be staffed with over 500 representatives who can provide live phone support to assist residents with booking an appointment. The line will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Live call center workers will be available in English and Spanish, and 100 additional languages will be available through translators. Call center workers will have the same access to appointments that users will see on the public website. The line can be accessed by dialing 2–1–1 and selecting the prompt for “Help Scheduling a Vaccine Appointment.”
