CDD's Community Planning Division conducts open space planning throughout the city and oversees major design, construction and renovation projects for Cambridge's parks and playgrounds. Community Planning staff also frequently consult with City departments and other groups on open space projects.

Caring for Cambridge's street trees is a shared effort between the City and residents.

Celebrate reading with fellow new readers at the Valente Branch Library! We will explore a book from the Beginning Reader collection, spend time reading together, and do an activity! Copies of the book will be provided via the library; participants may check out a copy to take home after the program. This is open to students in kindergarten through second grade who are practicing reading independently; their grown-ups are welcome to join us. Registration is required. On February 10, 2025, the Cambridge City Council voted to adopt zoning amendments that allow multifamily housing in all Cambridge neighborhoods.

While trucks and tour buses are allowed to operate within the City of Cambridge, they are still restricted from certain streets, as defined below, unless delivering to addresses on those specific streets. All restrictions are for 24 hours a day, seven days a week unless otherwise noted

The City of Cambridge hosted two events this month to showcase the positive impact of federal grants such as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Grant (HOME) to our community. Community development activities build stronger and more resilient communities. CDBG funds can be directed toward affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and public services that primarily serve low and moderate income residents.

The Cambridge Charter Review Committee has been convened by the City Council to comprehensively review the City’s current charter and to recommend changes to ensure that Cambridge’s government meets the needs of our residents and is responsive to the challenges of today and beyond.
