Children and their grown-ups are invited to this special kid-centered cookbook club! This month, we're celebrating flatbreads of all varieties (pizzas included!) Bring a dish to share, or just come to talk about your experience with a chosen cookbook. No need to bring a dish to join. Visit Valente for a themed selection of cookbooks that are ready to check out. Registration is required; sign-ups available in-person at Valente or through calling at 617-349-4015. In January this book group will meet both in person at the Collins Branch and on Zoom in a hybrid format. Please register in advance. People of all ages who enjoy children's books can read and discuss together. Food will be provided. This month we will be reading and discussing Pocket Bear by Katherine Applegate. Please pick up a copy of the book beforehand at the O'Neill Branch Library (prior to January 5) or at the Boudreau or Collins Branch Libraries. You can also request a copy to be sent to another location, or read a digital version of the book by going to our catalog.

The City of Cambridge announced today that The Foundry building has received two new prestigious awards. Over the last week, The Foundry was recognized with a 2023 Built Design Excellence Award for Adaptive Reuse from the Boston Society for Architecture (BSA) and a 2023 Brick in Architecture Best in Class Award for Historic Renovation from the Brick Industry Association (BIA).

The Cambridge Historical Commission, a citywide body of seven members and three alternates, establishes historic preservation policy for the city and administers two historic districts, the Harvard Square Conservation District, the citywide landmark and demolition ordinances, and the preservation grant program for rehabilitation assistance.

The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout the weekend due to scheduled community events on May 16-18, 2025. Events include Saint Anthony’s Santo Cristo Feast, Port Art Fest, the Peoples Party Music Festival, the 72nd Annual BB&N Circus, and Inman Eats & Crafts.
