The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) provides a wide range of services and programs that touch almost every sector in the city: from newborns to senior citizens, from school-aged children to homeless families, from non-profit organizations to local employers.

As cases continue to increase in Massachusetts and in Cambridge, the City is reminding residents that COVID-19 is still with us. Help prevent the spread by remembering the basics - Wear a mask or face covering, Practice physical distancing, Wash your hands for 20 seconds.

Drop-in sessions will be limited to 30-minutes for each patron. Cambridge City Manager Yi-An Huang and Police Commissioner Christine Elow announced the release of the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) independent review of the January 4, 2023 fatal officer-involved shooting of Sayed Faisal, a 20-year-old experiencing an apparent mental-health crisis.

The City of Cambridge is offering COVID-19 testing for residents seven days a week at expanded locations, as part of a strategic initiative to coordinate testing and COVID-19 vaccine distribution. The initiative is led by the City's newly established Cambridge Pandemic Collaborative.

On Thursday, October 22, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health recategorized the City of Cambridge as a moderate risk “yellow” community. This designation is given to communities where the average daily case rate over the last 14 days is 4-8 cases per 100,000 population.

The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of upcoming street closures, construction, and traffic impacts in late August and early September for back-to-school, the Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian, and two other community events.
