Commonwealth of Massachusetts Updates Mask Advisory for Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Residents
Effective December 21, 2021: In response to the spread of the Delta variant and the emerging Omicron variant, the Department of Public Health now advises that all residents, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask or face covering when indoors (and not in your own home). The DPH particularly urges this recommendation if you have a weakened immune system, or if you are at increased risk for severe disease because of your age or an underlying medical condition, or if someone in your household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, or is unvaccinated.
Cambridge Police Safely Resolve Barricade Situation
A Cambridge man in his 40s, who had reportedly pulled a weapon on his health care worker and then barricaded himself inside his large, multi-unit Massachusetts Avenue residential building apartment, was safely taken into custody by officers and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation earlier this afternoon.
City of Cambridge Closures and Service Information for Labor Day Holiday
In observance of the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 4, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed, and payments will not be required at City of Cambridge parking meters and parking meter pay stations. Curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste will be suspended on the holiday and one day behind schedule for the rest of that week.
