Are you an intermediate or advanced sewer? This workshop will cover serger machine setup, threading a serger, and identifying correct tension settings with different types of fabric. You will learn about ways to use our Elna Extend 864 Air serger to take your sewing skills to the next level by producing special finishing styles, hemming, trimming and assembling your garments. This workshop is designed for patrons who have prior experience using a sewing machine to complete many types of fiber arts projects. If you are new to machine sewing, we recommend you take our Sewing 101 workshop before using our serger.

Looking for some basic computer or mobile device guidance? Want to learn how to access audiobooks and eBooks? Stop by at the Main Library for our drop-in hours! Drop-in sessions will be limited to 30-minutes for each patron. Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Ellen Pinsky and Michael Slevin, co-editors of the highly praised essay collection Driven to Write: 45 Writers on the Motives and Mysteries of their Craft. They will be joined for a panel discussion with several of the book's contributors including, Robert Pinsky, award-winning author of over twenty volumes of poetry, Stephen Greenblatt, Harvard professor and author of Dark Renaissance, Ha Jin, the William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor in English and Creative Writing at Boston University, and Sigrid Nunez, National Book Award-winning author of The Friend. This panel will be moderated by Rachel Dillon, poet and the managing editor of Ploughshares. Registration is required.
