Monthly Meeting of the Conservation Commission

The City of Cambridge Department of Veterans Services (DVS) invites the public to attend three Memorial Day Weekend Observance Events: Grave Decoration Day on May 24; Observance for maritime military members lost due to maritime battles on May 24; and the Memorial Day Observance event on May 26.

Neighborhood Conservation Districts were established by city ordinance in 1983. Conservation district designation recognizes a distinctive physical environment that reflects the architectural, cultural, political, economic, or social history of the city. NCDs foster wider public knowledge and appreciation of such neighborhoods. Designation encourages the conservation and maintenance of these areas so that the city may be a more attractive and desirable place in which to live and work.

Explains how the Cambridge Historical Commission regulates designated historic properties, describing process to obtain the required certificates to alter designated historic properties and how to obtain a demolition permit.
