CAMBRIDGE – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Pauline Wells have announced that Rayquon Brown, 29 of Canton, has been arrested and charged with murder, carrying a firearm without a license, being an armed career criminal, and conspiring to commit murder. On July 4, 2026, at approximately 5:24 AM, the Cambridge Police Department received a call from pedestrians who, while out on a walk, found a man, later identified as Xavier Bautista, lying in a pool of blood in the area of Norfolk Street and Broadway Street. Rayquon Brown was arraigned today at Cambridge District Court and ordered held without bail. The next date in this case is Friday, July 17, 2026. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Cambridge Police Department at (617) 349-3300. The City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Public Health Department recognize that there are many questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, including safety of the vaccines; trust in government and pharmaceutical companies who developed the vaccines; potential side effects; who should and should not receive the vaccine; and where vaccines will be administered. CPHD and the City will continue to update residents and those who work in Cambridge as more information becomes available.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy this month, the Cambridge STEAM Initiative is also celebrating the life and legacy of Bob Moses, local civil rights activist and founder of The Algebra Project. The STEAM Initiative is co-leading a Math is a Civil Right movement alongside the Cambridge Public Schools Math Department and The Young People’s Project to advance Bob Moses’s belief that math is a civil right

Effective Oct. 1, 2016, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts prohibits discrimination based on gender identity in places of Public Accommodation. A place of public accommodation as defined in M.G.L.c. 272 92A includes any place open to and serving the public. This training details how businesses can comply with the state’s gender identity non-discrimination law in places of public accommodation. In addition, the training covers best practices for maintaining inclusive environments regardless of one’s gender identity.
