In 2009, the Cambridge Housing authority (CHA) through its Cambridge Affordable Housing Corporation (CAHC) purchased a 26-unit rental property in Porter Square, also known as 78-80 Porter Road, with the financial assistance from the Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust. Additional financing was used to significantly renovate the property and convert the mostly market-rate housing units into affordable housing rented out to income-eligible residents. In the process of updating and replacing old systems, the CHA was able to maintain and restore historically significant elements of the building.

We are seeking Cambridge families with children ages 4–10 years to pilot Math! Everywhere!, an exciting math app that encourages your child to explore fun, interactive math tasks — right in your neighborhood. The app, created by local organization MathTalk, supports the goals of the Early Childhood Math Group facilitated by the Cambridge STEAM Initiative.

Case investigation and contact tracing are important strategies for helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the community. When public health representatives call, you can do your part by answering the phone and providing information that can help stop the spread of COVID-19. Based on the information the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has shared, Phase Two will begin on February 1st and only those 75 years and older (and those who qualify as part of Phase One) will be able to register for a vaccination appointment using the map on the state’s website. At this point, we do not have indications of when other groups in Phase Two will be able to register for and receive the vaccine. When the state shares additional information, we will post it on our dedicated vaccine information page at www.cambridgema.gov/vaccine.
