The annual awards program recognizes City employees for their extraordinary contributions to public service to peers, colleagues, and residents, above and beyond job requirements. All nominations are due Friday, April 28, 2023, by 12 p.m. Award recipients will be recognized at the Outstanding City Employee Award ceremony that has been rescheduled to Friday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m., in the Sullivan Chamber at Cambridge City Hall.

The City of Cambridge launched the 7th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB7) in 2020. In September, community members submitted ideas for how to spend $500,000 on one-time capital projects to improve Cambridge.

Kim Eierman will help you sort out the mysteries and complexities of native plant selection including: Am I buying a genetic clone, and does it matter? What are local ecotypes and where can I buy them? Are native cultivars ok? Are dwarf nativars ecologically-useful? What’s the tradeoff with double flowers? Which native plants require pollination partners (i.e. are dioecious) and how do I source them? What are the pros and cons of planting native seeds vs. live plants? Get the answers you need to make your native landscape both beautiful and eco-beneficial. This is event is cosponsored by the Cambridge Public Library. Kim Eierman is the Founder of EcoBeneficial LLC and author of The Pollinator Victory Garden: Win the War on Pollinator Decline with Ecological Gardening. She is an ecological landscape designer and environmental horticulturist specializing in native plants. Cambridge Youth Programs (CYP) offers paid internships to Cambridge residents ages 14-19.

The MBTA Income-Eligible Reduced Fare Program offers discounted MBTA passes to eligible Cambridge residents between the ages of 18-64 who are enrolled in an approved state assistance program. Applicants need to provide a photo ID and proof of enrollment in a state assistance program.
