Drop in tech help at Valente can assist you with signing up for low-cost home internet, setting up your computer or mobile device, making an email account, navigating websites or databases, and other basic technology assistance. If you would like assistance with a device, please bring the device, all cords, and any account information. Library staff cannot be held responsible for damage to patron-owned equipment. The Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP) is a publicly-funded program that provides free or affordable, high-quality early education and care for all Cambridge 4-year-olds and some 3-year-olds. CPP covers the cost of the school-day, school-year portion of programs. Depending on a family's income, there may be additional costs for full-day, full-year (including summer) preschool. Families apply to CPP through a single, centralized online application. DHSP Preschools are partner of CPP.

No registration required. This event is intended for school-aged children, and is open to drop-in attendees while supplies last.

Beginning November 1, 2022, commercial generators that produce more than 1,000 lbs of food waste per week will be required to reduce or divert their food waste going into the trash. To assist small businesses in Cambridge with this state regulation, the service and carts will be provided by the city at no cost to the participating businesses. Weekly collection is anticipated to start on October 24, 2022.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Brandon M. Terry—John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard University and Codirector of the Institute on Policing, Incarceration, and Public Safety at the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research—for a discussion of his new book Shattered Dreams, Infinite Hope: A Tragic Vision of the Civil Rights Movement. He will be joined in conversation by Danielle Allen—James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University, Director of the Allen Lab for Democracy Renovation at the Harvard Kennedy School and Director of the Democratic Knowledge Project-Learn at the Harvard Graduate School of Education—and Michael Sandel—Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Government at Harvard University and the bestselling author of The Tyranny of Merit and Democracy’s Discontent. Registration is required.

The DGBVPI works to improve access and use of services through community partnerships. We co-facilitate the Cambridge Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and the DGBVPI Steering Committee. In these settings, organizations gain a deeper understanding of how DGBV shows up in different settings and collaborate to find ways to address it. We work to make sure the Cambridge community has, “no wrong door” for survivors seeking services or someone causing harm who wants to change their behavior.
