From January 1, 2021 through January 18, 2021, City of Cambridge departments will not be conducting in-person appointments. City offices remain open to assist residents by email or phone.

This week's selection: Raymond Carver, "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love," "A Small, Good Thing," and " Cathedral." Reading Interests: We concentrate on Great Books in the following areas: a long novel over the summer, two sections of poetry and short stories, a book of the Bible, a Shakespeare play, an ancient and modern drama, a work of science, a smaller work of fiction, an even smaller work of fiction, and a rotating mix of politics, philosophy, and religion. Authors read in the past five years include Dickens, Keats and Yeats, O'Connor and Munro, Ecclesiastes, Sophocles and August Wilson, Darwin, Austen, Duras, The Federalist Papers, and Arendt. How to get the print book: Copies of the reading are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during current service hours and a staff member can help you get a copy. Cambridge Police Officer Matt Brown is in our Traffic Enforcement Unit. A group of MIT Students recently reached out to CPD to learn more about the mechanics of a traffic stop as they research the idea of doing them virtually. Officer Brown invited them on a ride-a-long to learn more about the process.

Bring the extra garden seeds you don't think you will plant this year! See what your neighbors have before you purchase more! We will have envelopes and pens to help keep them straight. If you don't have seeds, come anyway, as we will have extras. This event is co-hosted by Cambridge City Growers, a group of volunteers across Cambridge working to start up gardens in neighborhoods to increase access to healthy, organic, and locally grown food.

Replace 10 trash barrels and recycling containers, making them rodent-proof and environmentally friendly. Big Belly trash cans will keep the streets clean, prevent pests from being drawn to waste bins, and make it easier to properly dispose of different kinds of waste.
