The Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) purchased 31-37 Mellen Street, a 26,000 square foot property, from Lesley University in late December 2025. Located in the Baldwin neighborhood between Harvard Square and Porter Square, the site is in close proximity to the area’s many amenities including local retail restaurants, and the MBTA train stations and bus transportation. The CHA is planning to create new affordable housing on the sites under the provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO).

The Capital Building Projects Department manages planning, design, and construction of a wide range and scale of projects across Cambridge's municipal building portfolio, including renovations and upgrades to Public Works facilities, youth centers, branch libraries, fire stations, and City offices.

Matching Set is a twin-led indie-folk band performing original songs with lush vocal harmonies and poetic lyrics.Their set features intimate compositions blending European and American influences. PARK SOUNDS 2026 brings free outdoor musical performances featuring local artists to the front lawn of the Cambridge Public Library Main Branch. These events are all-ages. STAR Communities assesses communities on their programs, policies and accomplishments that promote environmental, social and economic sustainability. Cambridge achieved the highest rating in the country from STAR Communities for its leadership in sustainability.

Explore our outdoor world, get creative, and make sun prints (aka cyanotypes) at the Central Square Branch. A selection of flora, other natural materials, and simple found objects will be available to create a collage and then print with the sun. Or bring your own materials! Participants will have the opportunity to display their work in the Branch during the month of August. In the case of rain or inclement weather, we'll be indoors doing botanical water colors.
