The climate is changing, and we're all here on the planet together. Join us for a monthly community gathering and discussion of a variety of books about climate change. We will share thoughts, resources, and occasionally host special guests in a welcoming small-group environment. For our December meeting, we will discuss This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate by Naomi Klein. Copies of the book are available at the Main Library Q&A Desk. E-book copies of the book are available to borrow on the Libby app and audiobook copies are available immediately on the Hoopla app. Registration is required. Join the Cambridge Public Library for the 51st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture with Dr. Brandon M. Terry. Dr. Terry is the John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard University and Co-director of the Institute on Policing, Incarceration, and Public Safety at the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research. He is the author of Shattered Dreams, Infinite Hope: A Tragic Vision of the Civil Rights Movement and is coeditor, with Tommie Shelby, of To Shape a New World: Essays on the Political Philosophy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and editor of Fifty Years Since MLK. The City of Cambridge offers free, one-on-one help to residents looking to lower their energy bills. Through the Cambridge Energy Helpline (617-430-6230), callers get connected to a trained adviser who can explain cost-saving programs, from fuel assistance and discount utility rates to solar credits and no-cost energy assessments. Support is available to renters, homeowners, and landlords alike—regardless of building type.

The City of Cambridge and MBTA have been working together to develop a maintenance improvement project to address the issues on the Russell Field Path which is owned and maintained by the MBTA.

Monthly Meeting for the Conservation Commission

The Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) is preparing to begin a comprehensive modernization of their existing Corcoran Park development in Strawberry Hill. The redevelopment of Corcoran Park is expected to involve the demolition and replacement of the existing outdated buildings, built in the early 1950s, with new, deeply affordable rental units that will be built to Passive House standards. The CHA anticipates creating the revitalized Corcoran Park development under provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO).

This Unit enables the Department to strengthen its case management processes, support officers with topics such as mental health and youth development, and provide clinical oversight to the support services of the CPD.
