Cambridge Police Remind Residents of Resources to Combat and Prevent Hate Crimes
The Cambridge Police Department continues to closely monitor the ongoing Israel/Hamas conflict overseas including the cease-fire negotiations underway now. In our initial alert last month, we relayed how we have been working with our state and federal partners. Currently, there continue to be no specific or credible threats in our area.
In recent weeks, CPD has received reports of hate crime incidents. We are committed to safeguarding the state and federal civil rights of all individuals irrespective of their race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, or gender, and to aggressively investigating any reported acts or threats of violence, property damage, harassment, intimidation, or other crimes that appear motivated by bias against or hatred of a particular group. If you believe you, your business or organization has been the victim of a hate crime in Cambridge, please contact the Cambridge Police Department. The Cambridge Police will fully investigate, document, and respond to all allegations of bias or hate-motivated crime.

Connecting Face 2 Face Video Conferencing for All
Our public libraries have conference rooms actively used by many Cambridge groups. We can expand their use by adding video conferencing to improve the accessibility of meetings, trainings, interviews, and other conversations.
Efforts, Collaboration Continue to Expand Afterschool Options for Cambridge Families
The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) is working to create a more equitable afterschool application and enrollment process while expanding access for Cambridge families. For the 2024-2025 school year, 1,486 students received an offer to a DHSP afterschool program, with 90% placed in their first choice, and a 7% increase in applicants from the income priority group. DHSP has also added 246 new seats across programs, launched an OST Expansion Study to support long-term growth, and continues to center caregiver perspectives through the Caregiver Council.

Cannabis Business permits are issued by the Inspectional Services Department. Anyone seeking to open a Cannabis Retail Store or operate as a Cultivator, Product Manufacturer, and/or Transporter in Cambridge must obtain a Cannabis Business permit.
