Artists, Designers: Create Temporary Shade Structures To Address Warming World. Budget: $27K

With temperatures expected to rise into the upper 80s this week, the City of Cambridge is excited to welcome the return of waterplay season! Waterplay features at many neighborhood parks and playgrounds are now open for the summer and offer a fun, free way for kids to cool off and stay active.

The City of Cambridge is pleased to announce a new pilot program that will provide up to 20-30 students with free tuition at Bunker Hill Community College and a College Success Coach this school year.

Join us in Joan Lorentz Park (outside the Main Library) for a Summer Kickoff Party for all ages! Enjoy a live concert with award-winning, GRAMMY nominated folk musician Alastair Moock and friends! Take home a tiny blossom kit and enjoy ice-cream (while supplies last). You can also register for Summer Reading, pick up a bingo board and learn more about special events happening across branches all summer long. The Department of Public Works, Community Gardens, and Office of Sustainability will join us to celebrate summer and the natural world.

Join the Collins Branch Library in collaboration with the Cambridge Climate Leaders Initiative for a monthly discussion of a climate-related topic. Each month the group will discuss a book on the topic at hand then hear about a related local program or initiative and how you can take action. Topic: Farming for the Future Book: We are Eating the Earth: The Race to Fix Our Food System and Save Our Climate by Michael Grunwald Registration is encouraged, but not required. On Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., we will host an open house to update the community on the Vassar Street Safety Improvement Project.

The Community Development Departments collaborates with other City departments to conduct planning studies of varying scales, often with goals to rezone, solve a particular problem, or create documentation of a topic.

This proposal will expand bike ownership for qualifying low-income residents. This two-year program will make bicycles available for purchase at discounted rates and provide reliable cycling transportation for residents in need.

Curbside pick-up of un-decorated Christmas trees will occur January 3-13 on your curbside collection day. Decorations must be removed and trees should not be in a plastic bag.
