In response to community feedback and participation, the Cambridge Council on Aging will continue to offer programming for Cambridge adults age 60 and older at the Russell Youth and Community Center, 680 Huron Ave. Older adults are also invited to enjoy the Center’s Common Area on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Beginning April 3, 2023, the City of Cambridge will implement a one-year street cleaning pilot program designed to evaluate the effectiveness of its street cleaning operations, while seeking to reduce the impacts of towing on residents. During this pilot program, towing associated with street cleaning will not be enforced, though residents should continue to move their vehicles accordingly, following the posted street cleaning schedule. Additionally, parking tickets issued for street cleaning will be raised from $30 to $50.

DePasquale activating the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund to provide emergency assistance to individuals and families in Cambridge experiencing extreme financial hardship. The MBTA is decommissioning its Overhead Catenary System (OCS) Huron at the Huron Ave/Aberdeen Ave/Belmont Street area which had supported its recently retired Electric Trolley Bus Fleet. There will be day and overnight shifts depending on crew availability beginning Friday, September 9.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Pauline Wells have confirmed the ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred this morning, Saturday, July 4th, in Cambridge. The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim, identified as Xavier Bautista, 32 from Cambridge , was shot shortly before 4:30 a.m. his body was located by a pedestrian at around 5:30 a.m. who called 911. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Cambridge Police Department at (617) 349-3300.
