PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks.

Join us for a chess challenge. Players of all skill levels and all ages are welcome to participate. Chess sets will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. This is not an instructional class, but rather a gathering for individuals who want to play and test their skills against other members of the community. There's no need to register in advance - simply drop by and challenge yourself to improve your mastery of this classic game! Beginning October 17th, weather permitting, the City’s contractor, E J Paving, will be performing partial roadway grinding and paving operations to enhance the road conditions on several sections of street around the City. The roadway grinding operation at each location is expected take two days followed by paving of the roadway later that same week, or the following week (weather permitting). For a list of street sections to be re-surfaced, please see below.

Bring a dish to share, or just come to talk about your experience with a chosen cookbook. All experience levels welcome! No need to bring a dish to join. This year's national them is "Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape”

Young people ages 10 to 14 who love to write are welcome to share their ideas and writing. There will be time for share-outs/workshopping, as well as group or solo writing. Snacks are provided! This week we will be joined by guest author Patrick Joyce, author of Back in the USSR and Strawberry Fields. If you are attending for the first time, registration is helpful, but not required.

Cambridge promotes sustainable transportation through education, community workshops, planning, and infrastructure projects. Resident volunteers can provide input on transportation projects. The City is investing in Electric Vehicle infrastructure and adding more fully electric vehicles to its fleet.

The City of Cambridge announced it is extending outdoor dining in the City until 60 days after the end of the Commonwealth’s declared state of emergency. This announcement follows the Governor’s Executive Order last week, which gave cities and towns the flexibility to extend outdoor dining past the initial November 1 deadline.
