A Win for Housing Affordability as Cambridge City Council Adopts Changes to Incentive Zoning
The Cambridge City Council adopted an amendment to the Incentive Zoning Ordinance on October 17, 2022, which will increase funds for the City’s Affordable Housing Trust. This new amendment adds to the many tools Cambridge has put in place over the past few years to support affordable housing. Cambridge’s Affordable Housing Trust has commitments of more than $100 million to affordable housing developments currently underway to preserve or create more than 500 affordable homes when completed.

City of Cambridge Announces Ban on Gas-Powered Leaf Blowers to Protect Health and Environment
The City of Cambridge is taking another step toward reducing noise and air pollution by officially prohibiting the use of gas-powered leaf blowers and requiring all users to transition to electric or battery-powered leaf blowers. This initiative aligns with the city’s commitment to protecting public health and reducing harmful emissions.
Logistics Behind Major Renovations at Cambridge Fire Headquarters
During the Fire Headquarters renovation, expected to be completed in 2026, firefighters will move into Station 10, a temporary fire facility located at 15 Hovey Avenue (across from Spaulding Hospital) and administration staff will relocate to 23 Bay Street.  
City of Cambridge Awarded $1 Million Grant to Support Dam and Watershed Infrastructure
The City of Cambridge today announced it has been awarded a $1 million construction grant from the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs’ (EEA) Dam and Seawall Program that will help ensure repairs of critical infrastructure with the Cambridge Reservoir Dam, Hobbs Brook Gatehouse, and Outlet Culvert. Cambridge was one of the 21 municipalities and nonprofit organizations to be awarded over $5.6 million in grants to repair dams and strengthen coastal infrastructure across Massachusetts.
