Danehy Park is a popular, 50-acre park in north Cambridge. For more than 30 years, residents and visitors have enjoyed the park’s athletic fields, walking paths, playgrounds, public art, dog park, and community events. We want Danehy Park to continue being a place that everyone can enjoy. We are starting a community process to gather ideas, information, and feedback about how to make Danehy even better!

Art urges us to look more closely at the world around us, and at ourselves. In this generative writing workshop, facilitated by Heather Nelson, participants will choose an image with which to “converse”: each writer will be given prompts and questions in order to interact with their image and, after having this dialogue with the art, writers will work to edit and arrange their observations into a working draft of an ekphrastic poem. There will be a little time at the end of the session for sharing drafts and discussing next steps. Registration is required.

You will gain historical insights, tools to affirm your child’s cultural roots, and connect with others committed to raising antiracist children. The workshop will feature a presentation by Vice Mayor Marc McGovern and a special giveaway: The Village We’re Building digital zine! The Cambridge Pedestrian Committee works to create a more comfortable, safe, and pleasant environment for walking in Cambridge, and promotes walking as a means of transportation, for health, and for enjoyment.

In March 2024, the City Council passed Policy Order 2024 #37, which asked the Community Development Department “to work with the chairs of the Housing Committee to create zoning language that effectively promotes multifamily housing, including income-restricted affordable housing with the goal of having viable housing for everyone especially lower-income residents.” A series of Housing Committee meetings will be held to discuss the proposal throughout the summer and fall of 2024. Additional information will be posted here as the proposal is developed.
