The Board of Zoning Appeal (BZA) has an important role in decisions that help shape the use and appearance of buildings in our community. Under the Cambridge Zoning Ordinance, certain uses and types of development may require a variance, special permit, or a comprehensive permit from the BZA, a quasi-judicial body that conducts public hearings on all applications and appeals before it and issues decisions. The Board also hears appeals of Zoning Determinations made by the Inspectional Services Department.

CPL Nature Club: Cambridge Birds and How to Draw Them with Clare Walker Leslie (Collins Branch)
Join local author Clare Walker Leslie (How to Look at a Bird, Keeping a Nature Journal) to learn how to draw Cambridge birds! Participants will discuss birds local to Cambridge, learn how to draw the birds they see every day, and leave the program with their own finished bird drawing. All drawing and reference materials will be provided and all skill levels are welcome, no previous drawing experience required. If you don't think you can draw a bird, that's okay - this event will show you that you can! Registration is required for this program. This program is suggested for participants ages 8 and up.

Harvard University & Massachusetts Institute of Technology Donate $500,000 to Support Cambridge’s Temporary Emergency Shelter
Cambridge Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and City Manager Louis A. DePasquale today announced matching donations of $250,000 each from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to cover costs associated with the creation of a Temporary Emergency Shelter at the War Memorial Recreation Center, Field House, and garage.
Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow to Retire After More Than 30 years With Department
After more than 30 years of dedicated service to the Cambridge Police Department, Commissioner Christine Elow has announced her retirement. With Commissioner Elow’s retirement, Superintendent Pauline Wells has been named Acting Police Commissioner. She joined the Police Department in 1993 and has most recently served as Superintendent of Operations.

LilyPad in Inman Square will be hosting two events on June 13 and 14. Friday, June 13, will feature a live music at the Cambridge Street Court/Yard from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. followed by a brass band procession back to LilyPad’s performance space in Inman. On Saturday, June 14, LilyPad will bring DJ dance party vibes back to the Cambridge Street Court/Yard from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m.
