One of the goals of the Cambridge STEAM Initiative is to work in partnership with educators to support their innovative ideas and bring them to life! Do you have an idea you want to brainstorm about? Do you need resources to make your idea come alive? Do you want to learn more about STEAM content development and implementation?
We support educators in the following ways:
- Professional development workshops and Communities of Practice for Out of School Time (OST) and in-school educators
- Curated STEAM@Home resources for families and youth-serving programs
- Purposefully connect partners across organizations to enhance or expand programming and resources

Professional Development Opportunities
STEAM Programming Community of Practice (CoP)
- Designed for youth-facing staff and program leadership.
- Structured so that each session will be 1 hour of skill building and 1 hour of real-time problem solving around activity/engagement implementation.
- Responsive to needs of the youth-facing staff.
- Focuses on understanding STEAM Habits of Mind and effective integration into programs.
We can also connect you to STEAM professional trainings and STEAM program quality support and assessment.
STEAM Habits of Mind
We identified 6 habits that develop creativity and critical thinking skills: Develop Craft, Engage and Persist, Express, Observe, Reflect, Stretch and Explore. These habits support young people in becoming creators, leaders, and decision makers.
