Spring Community Bike Ride Returns May 21

Join the Cambridge Bicycle Committee on May 21, 2022 for the annual Community Bike Ride. This year’s theme, Trails to Rails, will celebrate the rich history of bikes and trains in Cambridge. The 14-mile ride will explore the historical rail lines that have been converted to multi-use paths for pedestrians and cyclists. This is the first in-person spring ride since 2019.

We will begin gathering outside the Cambridge Public Library Main Branch (449 Broadway) at 9:00 a.m. and depart promptly at 9:30 a.m. The ride will be escorted by the Cambridge Police Department's Bike Patrol and take about two to two and a half hours, including a midway break. The ride will end back at the Cambridge Public Library with light food including donations from Bon Me and Flour Bakery.

The ride will go at a relaxed pace, but we ask that young children ride tandem with an adult (trailers, bike seats, tag-alongs, etc.). 

Bike mechanics will be available before the ride to make quick safety checks. The mechanics will be making minor adjustments, like tire pressure, and emergency repairs only. Please make sure your bike is in reasonable working order ahead of the ride. 

We also have free Bluebikes adventure passes available for the ride. If you would like a pass, please send a request by May 15 to bluebikes@cambridgema.gov.
