Description

Despite algae’s diminutive size, they have a disproportionate impact on the planet - forming the foundation of aquatic food webs and accounting for more than a third of the oxygen we breathe. In algae’s many forms, they can be a boon or a scourge to human health. Come learn about the role of algae in aquatic ecosystems, human health, and water quality! CWD staff will give a presentation detailing algae monitoring efforts in our water supply and around Fresh Pond Reservation. We will take a closer look at algae under a microscope, and learn how to identify a variety of local species. Please RSVP to mwong@cambridgema.gov!
