Description

The All Lesley Reads author for January 2017 is the novelist and playwright Kia Corthron. Kia will read from her new novel The Castle Cross the Magnet Carter, followed by a staged reading of a 30-minute segment from her play A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick.

Kia will be the 2017 resident playwright at Chicago's Eclipse Theatre, whose three-show season will be all her plays. For her body of work, she has been honored with the 2016 Otto Award for Political Theatre, the Windham Campbell Prize for Drama, the USArtists Jane Addams Fellowship, the Simon Great Plains (Honored) Playwright Award; and the Lee Reynolds Award. Her book The Castle Cross the Magnet Carter is a finalist for The Center for Fiction First Novel Prize.
