Description

The Lesley University College of Art and Design announces the first-ever juried exhibition of work by bachelor of fine arts (BFA) students, “REPRESENT: Politics and Portraiture,” exploring themes such as racial and religious identity.

Student artists are using the exhibition to channel grief, anger and concern for the current political landscape, utilizing portraiture as a genre to explore and dissect social and political content.

Through their artwork, students express what they stand for and challenge viewers to consider: “What do you stand for?”

The show complements a companion exhibit, “Impolite-ic Politics,” on view Feb. 2 to March 5, that features large-scale portrait paintings by professional artists Matthew Ivan Cherry, Cesar Conde, and Patrick Earl Hammie, who are bringing current political topics to the forefront.
