Register now for a webinar, “Pathways to Justice” -- camb.ma/Pathways2Justice, that will examine and discuss the complexities of domestic violence and Black and brown women, in particular. National and local leaders will discuss the unique paradox for Black and brown women. How there is a fear of unjust harm to their partners by police and concerns that the justice system does not sufficiently prioritize intimate partner violence and sexual violence.
The keynote speaker is Wanda Swan, founder and Executive Director of The Swan Center for Advocacy & Research, a Georgia-based non-profit that prioritizes Black and/or African-American survivors of violence. The other speakers are Jenn Ho, Shameka Gregory and Superintendent Christine Elow. Ho currently serves as the Capacity Building Manager at The Network/La Red, and was previously the Director of Education & Outreach at the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK). Jenn is a Co-Founder of the Dorchester Organizing and Training Initiative (DOT-I), a fellowship program centering immigrant communities. Gregory is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) and has served as the Community Liaison at Transition House for 5 years. She also owns and operates a private practice, Worth in Christ, LLC. Superintendent Elow oversees the Support Services Division of the Cambridge Police Department, which includes the Criminal Investigations, the Family and Social Justice Section, and Administrative Services for the department. Raised in Cambridge, Superintendent Elow is the highest ranking female officer in the history of the Cambridge Police Department. Albert Pless, leader at the Cambridge Public Health Department and Mending Cambridge, will moderate what is sure to be an engaging conversation.
