Description

Life-long Cambridge resident Robert Megerdichian will speak on the life and metal art of his late father Abraham. Abraham’s art and photos of it by photographer Scott Sutherland are currently on display at the Branch.

Abraham Megerdichian was a machinist at General Electric in Lynn, MA who grew up in Cambridge, the son of Armenian immigrants. His hobby was machining from solid scraps of metal his interpretations of everyday objects, which we gave to family and friends as gifts for about 30 years.

Photographer Scott Sutherland, a biotech professional working in Cambridge, has blended the charm of Abe’s art with sharp, stunning photos. His photographs displayed at the Branch are only a few of the hundreds he has taken of Abraham’s large collection. Other examples of Scott’s photos of Abe’s art are on exhibit at Stonehill College in Easton, MA. His photographs have been on display at the Massachusetts State House.
