    • Celebration of Public and Academic Libraries with American Library Association President, Loida Garcia-Febo

      The President of the American Library Association, Loida Garcia Garcia-Febo, will visit the Cambridge Public Library on October 18, 2018, to promote her advocacy campaign of Libraries=Strong Communities. This campaign is intended to highlight the value of public, academic, and school libraries, and the many ways in which these libraries deliver an increasing array of services, which contribute to strengthen communities. Ms. Garcia-Febo will participate in a celebration of public and academic libraries, which will take place at Joan Lorentz park in front of the Main Library at 11:45 AM. While in Cambridge, the ALA President will speak at a public celebration of libraries, participate in several library programs at the CPL Main Branch and visit Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School and area universities. She will conclude her stay in Cambridge by visiting the Central Square Branch, where she will participate in a beginners English as a Second Language class, a cornerstone of the CPL’s adult literacy programs. The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and largest library association in the world. The ALA was founded in 1876 to provide leadership for the development, promotion and improvement of library and information services and the profession of Librarian, as vehicle to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.
