The one thing more fascinating than the innovations Jazz Dexter Gordon pioneered is the story of his life. No one knew him better than his wife, scholar and author Maxine Gordon, whose recent book, Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon, chronicles the life of the jazz great. Join Maxine Gordon for a book signing and a screening of Round Midnight, a 1986 movie that earned Dexter Gordon an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
This event is sponsored by the Cambridge Jazz Festival and the Cambridge Public Library.
