    • [Registration Required] Portraiture in Photography

      Please register below. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants prior to the event. This lecture is aimed at anybody who has an interested in photography, specifically portraiture. The first part of the lecture will be focused on the nature of portraits, and in the second part (after a short break) participants will do some more practical work for those who have an interest in improving their own shooting. This part is aimed at beginner photographers and those who would like a refresher. The technical instruction refers mostly to traditional cameras, but all the principles apply equally to smart phone photography. Participants will learn how to shoot better portraits. The basics of compositions in portraits and basic lighting, including some flash will be covered. Leonie Marinovich is a documentary photographer and filmmaker originally from South Africa and based in Cambridge for the past 7 years. Over the past 20 years she has made documentary films and shot and produced multimedia projects for global non-profit organizations focusing on topics that ranged from food security, water and sanitation, maternal health to tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS across Africa. Her work has always focused on humanitarian issues with a special focus on the issues that affect women and children. She is currently working on several personal and professional projects and also teaches photography at Harvard Extension School and Summer School.

      We invite children and their grownups to join us from home for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories, and rhymes. Caregivers are asked to participate in the program with their children--it will be as important as ever to model movement and song for your little one during this virtual session. Plan to join in, sing along, and move around! Register below. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants one hour before the program begins. Virtual Family Story Time is free and open to the public and is not recorded. If you register but later find you cannot attend, please remember to cancel your registration to make space for others.

    • Sunday Morning Yoga with Rachael Junard

      Join us for a virtual community yoga class every Sunday in June from the comfort of your own home with instructor Rachael Junard! Registration is required. Zoom link will be sent out prior to class. Rachael (She/They) is a Boston based wellness educator, yoga instructor and disruptor of status quo's. They are a 200 RYT vinyasa teacher and are currently in a 300 RYT program centered around honoring yoga's roots. This community class is an all levels flow centered towards stretching the body and grounding the mind. We'll incorporate some simple breathwork as well.
