Her 40-year career as a public servant was a testament to progressive ideals and equity and fairness in government. Join us for a tribute to Alice Wolf on September 9 at 2 pm. in the Lecture Hall at the Main Library.

      Join the Jean Appolon Expressions team for a one hour Haitian Folkloric class, accessible for all ages and movers. Dancers will learn movements and rhythms of Haiti including but not limited to Yanvalou, Ibo, Kongo, Nago, and Petwo. This class incorporates fun movements that are intricate and technical - yet loose and expressive at the same time. Children of ages and abilities and their caregivers are encouraged to join! Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library, the East Cambridge Savings Bank and Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

      Are you an intermediate or advanced sewer? This workshop will cover serger machine setup, threading a serger, and identifying correct tension settings with different types of fabric. You will learn about ways to use our Elna Extend 864 Air serger to take your sewing skills to the next level by producing special finishing styles, hemming, trimming and assembling your garments. This workshop is designed for patrons who have prior experience using a sewing machine. If you are new to machine sewing, we recommend you take our Sewing 101 workshop before using our serger.
