As we gather to view the eclipse, musician Dan Walker performs original songs outside the Main Branch in Joan Lorentz Park. Dance and celebrate our first outdoor performance of the season, and get ready for the eclipse with neighbors and friends!
Note: in the event of inclement weather, this performance will take place inside the Lecture Hall.
About the musician: Drawing from folk, blues, and R&B influences, Dan Walker crafts songs that resonate with audiences on a deeply emotional level. His lyrics weave tales of love, loss, and the intricacies of life, while his melodies carry the listener on a nostalgic trip through time.

Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology, and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. Teens are invited to learn more and apply on the iFp website: Innovators for Purpose.
Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences. Join us at the O'Connell Library for an Eclipse Watch Party! We will head outside to enjoy the solar eclipse while we play with chalk art and bubbles and enjoy some eclipse-themed refreshments.
Here in Cambridge, the eclipse will be at its maximum (92%) at 3:29 pm. We will have some eclipse glasses to share, but supplies are limited, so please bring your own if you have them!
