    • Calling All Young Writers: Submit to the 25th Annual Youth Poetry Contest

      Central Square Branch, 45 Pearl St., Cambridge, MA 02139

      The Central Square Branch of the Cambridge Public Library is excited to announce that we are now accepting submissions for the 25th Annual Cambridge Public Library Youth Poetry Contest for K-8 students who live or go to school in Cambrige. Submit your original poems by Tuesday, April 30. Poems will be judged for interesting content and creativity as well as consistent and imaginative style. Winners will be notified in mid-May, and prizes will be awarded at a ceremony and reading on Wednesday, May 29 at 6 p.m. Poems in languages other than English are welcomed but must also include English translations (which do not need to be poetic).       Finish off your vacation with a flourish! Stop by Boudreau and flex your creative muscles with an hour of crafting. You’ll leave with a beautiful piece of art that you can take home to show your friends and family. All ages of children welcome.

    • April Vacation: Harvard Alpaca Ranch (Valente)

      Valente Branch, 826 Cambridge St., Cambridge, MA 02141

      Alpacas from the Harvard Alpaca Ranch will be visiting the library for an educational program and meet and greet. Learn more about alpacas and take some time to say hello! This program will be outdoors at the Valente Branch Library. In the event of rain, we will move indoors to the Community Room. Registration is helpful but not required.

    • Vacation Week Program: "Meet the Orchestra" presented by Boston Music Project (O'Neill)

      O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140

      Join us for a performance of a youth chamber orchestra. A hands-on instrument petting zoo follows the performance, offering a chance for children to try playing a string instrument and to learn about different orchestral instruments.

    • Crafternoon: Gel Pen Doodles and Notes (Collins)

      Collins Branch, 64 Aberdeen Ave., Cambridge, MA 02138

      Have you ever tried drawing or writing with gel pens? These vivid and luminous colored inks add pizzazz to doodles, notes and more. See how they pop on contrasting dark papers. Recommended for children ages 5-12 and their caregivers.
