Join NATALIE DYKSTRA, the award-winning author of Chasing Beauty: The Life of Isabella Stewart Gardner, for a reading and a conversation—moderated by SEBASTIAN SMEE, a Pulitzer Prize-winning art critic at The Washington Post—about Boston's most beloved patron of the arts and the founder and namesake of one of the world's finest museums.
Called a "wise, captivating book" by Stacy Schiff and "an elegant depiction of a larger-than-life trailblazer" by Publisher's Weekly, Chasing Beauty is built upon both original research of previously unexamined documents as well as Dykstra's deep understanding of her subject's complexities and contradictions, qualities which make Isabella Stewart Gardner as compelling today as ever.
Destined to become the definitive biography of Isabella Stewart Gardner for years to come, Chasing Beauty is more than just that—it is also a tale of beauty and loss and grit and self-invention. This event is co-sponsored by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation.
Registration is required.
