    • Music Instrument Lessons & Chorus for Seniors

      Listen up, friends! It's time to rock and roll with a new hobby! Don't worry if you've never touched an instrument. We've got you covered with lessons that'll get you jamming in no time!

    • Wellness for Seniors: Tai Chi Paradigm

      Join us in this 12-week Tai Chi practice, which focuses on the mind and body connection. Tai Chi is a fluid sequence of movements choreographed in a low impact routine. Sifu Mynor Diaz has been learning and teaching Tai Chi classes for over 20 years. He has taught classes at five VA Boston Healthcare System locations and at Senior Centers. Note: We will be running two separate Tai Chi Paradigm series this year, a Wednesday series and a Friday series. Due to the popularity of this series, we expect participats to attend all the classes.     • Sewing 101 (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll learn the basics of sewing machine operation and safety. This session will cover machine setup, basic functions, threading the machine, reloading the bobbin, sewing straight stitches, and recognizing when stitch tension has gone awry. We’ll also cover some safety best practices when operating a sewing machine. As we learn together, we’ll work on a simple sewing project—a drawstring bag—which most students will be able to complete by the end of the class. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.

    • 2024 CPL Eclipse Celebration: Blackout Poetry (O'Connell)

      Celebrate National Poetry Month and the upcoming Solar Eclipse with us by creating your own blackout poetry at the O'Connell Branch Library. Blackout poetry is created by taking a written piece of text from a book, newspaper, or magazine and redacting words to come up with your very own poetry piece!
