    • Videography 101 (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Step into the Hive's state-of-the-art recording studio and film a short video of yourself in front of our green screen. Then, spend some time becoming familiar with video editing software while working with your footage. Registration is required. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.

    • Celebrate World Oceans Day with Delilah the Whale (O'Neill)

      O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140

      People of all ages can go inside of a lifesize inflatable whale! Registration is required and will begin May 24. This program will happen outside. In case of rain or bad weather it will be in the gym of the Peabody School. Starting May 24, please sign up at the following website to reserve your 15-minute time slot to interact with Delilah the Whale! Each person attending (of any age) must sign up individually. https://form.jotform.com/240895659754071 More information: Delilah is a life-sized inflatable North Atlantic right whale! Her measurements are based off of a real whale who lived along the East coast in the US and Canada. Delilah and her family are North Atlantic right whales - an endangered species with fewer than 340 individuals remaining. Fun Features: 45 feet long Designed by artists AND scientists!     • Sewing 101 (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll learn the basics of sewing machine operation and safety. This session will cover machine setup, basic functions, threading the machine, reloading the bobbin, sewing straight stitches, and recognizing when stitch tension has gone awry. We’ll also cover some safety best practices when operating a sewing machine. As we learn together, we’ll work on a simple sewing project—a drawstring bag—which most students will be able to complete by the end of the class. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.
