Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program

Human Service Programs

Are you interested in a career in healthcare? The Community Learning Center's Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program offers hands-on experience and education to help you start a career as a healthcare professional. The program is offered in partnership with Labouré College of Healthcare in Milton. It offers two tracks: one for English language learners and one for Cambridge residents who are advanced or fluent in English. 

The CNA Training Program provides:

  • In-person and online learning
  • Hands-on clinical experience at top hospitals and health clinics
  • Dual enrollment at Labouré College of Healthcare in Milton
  • Free transportation to Labouré's campus
  • Job readiness classes, support searching for and applying for jobs in healthcare 

Program graduates earn: 

  • Home Health Aide (HHA) Certificate
  • Alzheimer's / Dementia Care Certificate
  • CPR/AED Certificate
  • Certificate of Completion for Nursing Assistant Training Program at Labouré College of Healthcare
  • Free registration for the Massachusetts State Nursing Exam to become state-certified nursing assistant

Two program tracks:

Track for participants who are English Language Learners

  • Must be an English language learner (intermediate level or higher).
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. (have a valid work permit, resident card, or be a US Citizen).
  • Priority given to Cambridge residents. Open to residents of cities in the MetroNorth area (view sign up form for details).

Schedule

  • Includes classes to improve English and math skills.
  • Runs twice a year: September to January and February to June
  • Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Community Learning Center from 5 - 9 p.m. and on Thursdays at Labouré College in Milton from 4 - 9 p.m. (free transportation provided)

Track for participants who are advanced or fluent in English 

  • Must be a Cambridge resident to apply.
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. (have a valid work permit, resident card, or be a US Citizen).
  • Priority given to members of the American-born Black community.

Schedule

  • Runs once a year: March to June.
  • Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Community Learning Center from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and on Fridays at Labouré College in Milton from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (free transportation provided)

Information sessions for the Spring 2025 program will start in fall 2024. Sign up to be notified when dates are scheduled.
