Join us for two free, public events next week for our Gallery 344 exhibition “Infinite Present.” Boston Globe critic Cate McQuaid recommends the show: “Curator Marie Costello brings together an international roster of contemporary artists who engage Islam’s traditionally non-representational approach to art-making, employing intricate Islamic patterns and calligraphy to grapple with history and the current moment.”

•  Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, 6-8 p.m.: “Decagonal and Quasicrystalline Geometry in Medieval Islamic Architecture and Beyond” | Peter J. Lu, a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University, discusses connections between Islamic tile design and mathematical formulas. At Gallery 344, 344 Broadway, second floor, Cambridge.

• Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, 10 a.m.-noon: Family Day | Make a clay mosaic and take a guided tour of the exhibition. At Gallery 344.
